I am James Liu, a Stanford student pursuing a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics. I am interested in AI agents, reinforcement learning systems, backend infrastructure, and market design. My recent work has included multi-agent RL research at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab, web agent evaluation at MultiOn, backend systems work at Stanford Carta, and trading software through Jane Street programs. I will also be joining OpenAI as an incoming Member of Technical Staff intern in Summer 2026.
Outside of class and work, I help teach Stanford’s CS198 data structures and algorithms course and organize TreeHacks. I also enjoy tennis, marathon training, poker, board games, and orchestral music. You can find more detail on my resume, browse selected projects, or reach out by email.
